Newbuilding Activities
Newbuild Specifications
If you have an newbuild idea in mind but need help to get it all down on paper in a fashion that can be used as a tender doscument to shipyards, then we can help.
Using standard terminology and layout we can take your brief and with you develop a full tender specification for you.
We can also assist in bid evaluations to ensure you have an unbiassed comparison on which to select a shipyard.
We can assist in negotiations and initial yard selections.
Newbuilding Plan Approval
We are able to provide dedicated engineers and skilled industry professionals of all disciplines to undertake any newbuilding plan approval project, together with a management process and document control.
Combining engineering knowledge with a wealth of different vessel type operational experience, and shipyard construction methodology know-how, is essential when reviewing and commenting on shipyards drawings.
We know the rule requirements.
We know the Specification requirements.
We know what the vessel operators will want, and what they won't want.
We know the restrictions that the shipyards have and why they propose a certain detail.
Marking up drawings is only part of the exercise. The key to succesful Plan Approval is the management of the whole process. Hundreds of drawings with thousands of comments can soon get out of control unless the shipyard engineering teams and the plan approval team agree on document control; agree the Master Document Register; agree on the reporting procedure and expectations; work to a simple but effective document transfer procedure and importantly adhere to certain rules.
We have experienced document controllers (DCC) to keep the process on schedule.
Newbuilding Site Teams
Setting up a site team to undertake a newbuilding project is specific to the project being undertaken.
Each project will have its differences - global location; duration; vessel or structure type; client requirements; and many other factors.
Selecting the correct personnel to cover all aspects and disciplines of the project, whether it be from concept to delivery, or for the engineering phase initially or the construction and commissioning phase later down the line, is critical to the success.
The client will have a budget, the yard will have their expectations of the Owners site team. There is a critical balance to satisfy all of the demands.
TJA Marine have demonstrated succesfully their ability to put together great site teams and deliver projects within the Clients budget and according to the shipyards schedule.
Working through local manning agencies, or through TJA Marine directly; we can select and provide the personnel who will deliver the project. All disciplines of a typical newbuilding project can be covered, including administration and document control.
We can also provide individuals to specific tasks for any duration.
Our teams work as 'one team', and that philosophy extends to the Client and the shipyard project teams also. We also pride ourselves on setting up a 'happy' office environment, with the correct outfitting, equipment and ambiance, and an atmosphere to ensure all the team members can enjoy their work and which allows them to put 100% effort into the work in-hand.
Safety and Quality are paramount, this is what the team work to. Everybody goes home safely at the end of each day.
If these basics are achieved then budget control and shedule keeping will fall in line.
